Welcome to Happy at Home

Happy at Home supports the elderly and lonely in South Tyneside.

Our volunteers make regular visits (usually weekly) to lonely isolated people; having a chat, listening to music, sharing a past time or just reminiscing.

For those who can get out and about, we run our Happy Hubs throughout South Tyneside where people who are lonely can make new friends.

We also run at least two additional events per year (at Christmas and in the summer) to which volunteers and the people that they visit are invited.

Would you like to visit and befriend a lonely older person in your neighbourhood?

We are looking for people who have time to pop in and have chat with a lonely person and, where possible occasionally accompany them to a social event.

Could you spare some time helping out at one of our Happy Hubs? Or maybe you’d like to help behind the scenes?

We are always looking for volunteers.

We enjoy a good hour together, chewing the fat, – the time flies by when she is here and I really look forward to her visits.

Apart from a shopping service once a week, Mary is the only person I see from one week to the next, she has become my link with the outside world.

Nicholla is a real friend – she has become part of my family.
